Domaine de la Chapelle “Les Joueurs”, Chinon, Loire

This is a stunning cool-climate red wine made exclusively from Cabernet Franc (known locally as Breton). Intensely fragrant with rose, lead pencils and fresh red berries.  There is a lovely gaminess here too but it is playing backup to the fruit. The palate is full of crunchy red berries.  The acidity carries a long, precise finish.  This style of wine is exceptionally trendy these days and the sort of thing us wine lovers should be drinking more of.  Also perfect as a spring/summer red.
