Bodegas El Nido “Clio”, Jumilla
Bodegas El Nido is a low-production, boutique collaboration between Miguel Gil and internationally renowned Chris Ringland - formerly of Rockford, Barossa. The wine is a deep cherry red with an intense, vibrant nose of bergamot, plum, ripe strawberries and liquorice - and all the power and concentration you would expect from this kind of international project. These notes follow through onto the palate with savoury character, spicy plum, smoky oak and silky, persistent tannins. . Situated high up in the Valle de la Aragona, Jumilla, the ancient bush vines and long growing season combine to lend freshness, concentration, complexity and brightness to the fruit. The grapes are sourced from 12ha of Cabernet Sauvignon and 32ha of very old, low-yielding Monastrell. They are hand-harvested in small baskets to prevent bruising, then undergo selection. Fermented and aged for 24 months in new French and American oak. ABV 15.5%
