Kovács Nimród “Battonage” Chardonnay, Eger
Hungary's historic Eger region has been recognised as a source of world class wines since the 13th century. It is cooler than much of Hungary and the soils are calcareous - perfect conditions for high quality Chardonnay. Regular lees stirring (battonage) over the course of a year in French and Hungarian oak contributes to its rich, mouth-filling texture, and brioche aroma. The ripe fruit provides intense mango and peach notes. The complex palate full of fresh, ripe pears and pineapple with refreshing lemon zest and a baked bread character. The finish is long, fresh and elegant. This is a bold, tertiary and distinctive example of Eger Chardonnay. ABV 14%
